Netflix’s South Korean reality dating show Single’s Inferno has finally returned with its highly-anticipated third season – here’s everything you need to know about the new cast.

As with previous seasons of Single’s Inferno, the series sees a cast of attractive singles travelling to a remote island called “inferno” as they search for romantic connections.

However, cast members are not allowed to share personal details like their ages and occupations with one another until they have successfully paired up with another contestant for a night’s stay in “paradise”.

Here’s everyone that’s been introduced on Single’s Inferno season 3 so far:

Kim Gyu-ri

The first cast member to be introduced is Kim Gyu-ri, who is a 28-year-old model who primarily works with fashion and beauty brands. According to posts on her Instagram account (@citruszl), Kim was also a participant in Miss Korea 2022.

Choi Hye-seon

The next cast member to be introduced is Choi Hye-seon, a 26-year-old college student at the prestigious Ewha Women’s University. She majors in bioinformatics in the Life Sciences department, and has previously attended Durham University.

Per her Instagram account (@hazelchoiii), she has also modelled for fashion and beauty brands in Korea.

Choi Min-woo

The first male cast member to appear is Choi Min-woo, who describes himself as “shy and introverted” on the show. He has since shared that he is 24 years old, and works as a model. Posts on his Instagram account (@choimin_woo) reveal that he has walked the runway for several brands, and appeared in a shoot for Esquire Hong Kong.

Lee Jin-seok

31-year-old Lee Jin-seok is the founder and owner of several cafes in the city of Daegu, where he creates various desserts. From the looks of his Instagram page (@seok_lj), Lee also personally takes charge of brewing coffee and even furnishing his cafes.

An Min-young

An Min-young is a 26-year-old pilates instructor who owns and runs her very own studio, where she also holds one-on-one sessions with clients. According to her Instagram posts (@my_floria_) and YouTube channel, she also has some modelling experience, and was crowned Miss Korea Busan 2023.

Lee Gwan-hee

The oldest contestant in the series, 36-year-old Lee Gwan-hee is a professional basketball player for the LG Sakers, where he plays the shooting guard position. His Instagram (@leegwanhee0429) are mainly about his games and various sponsorships, as well as his love for food.

Son Won-ik

One of the show’s later additions, 31 year old Son Won-ik works as a realtor, and provides consultations for premium properties in prime locations in Seoul. He hasalso  uploaded several blogs on his YouTube channel, and his Instagram page (@hiwonik) features shots from his occasional modelling jobs, and documents several marathons he has participated in.

Yun Ha-bin

Yun Ha-bin is an actor, and currently plays a minor role in the ongoing K-drama My Demon – as he has revealed on Instagram (@yunhxvin). Little is known about Yu at this point, though he has expressed his desire to “shake things up” on the show.

Two years after their debut, JYP Entertainment band Xdinary Heroes finally kick-started their first world tour earlier in 2023 with shows in Seoul and Europe. Now, the six-member act have announced 2024 concerts in Asia, including shows in Jakarta, Taipei, Manila and Bangkok. Fans can look forward to performances of their tracks like ‘Happy Death Day’ and ‘Strawberry Cake’.

Currently, ticket details are only out for the Jakarta show. Pre-sale for Mecima members will start on December 11 at 1pm local time via Mecimashop, while general sales will begin later that day at 4pm.

With a new year comes a whole new slate of K-dramas to dig into, from tragic historical fantasies, comedic police dramas to good old melodrama. Here’s all the upcoming K-dramas premiering in January 2024.

On New Year’s Day, the highly anticipated Love Song for Illusion and Marry My Husband, both based on popular webtoons, will premiere. The former follows the star-crossed between a tortured young prince and the woman sent to assassinate him. Meanwhile, Marry My Husband sees an unlucky and mistreated young woman going back in time to change her fate.

Historical drama fans are in for a treat this coming January, with the upcoming Flower That Blooms at Night and Sejak: Charmed Deceit. Both are set in the Joseon Dynasty and follow the secret lives of royals and nobles.

Back in the present, Flex x Cop is a comedic police drama revolving around an intelligent but immature third-generation chaebol-turned-detective, who is paired up with a department veteran who despises him. Queen of Divorce revolves around another talented but comedic duo, this time in the realm of divorce law.

Love Song for Illusion

Based on the Naver webtoon of the same name, historical-fantasy drama Love Song for Illusion follows Yeon Wol (Hong Ye-ji), a young woman on a quest for revenge after witnessing the massacre of her family by the royal government as a child. Years later, she infiltrates the palace as part of a plan to assassinate the king. However, Yeon Wol winds up falling into a trap, waking up the next day with amnesia.

She is later appointed to become a concubine of the crown prince Hyun (Park Ji-hoon), who hides a secret alternate personality, Ak-hee, who is cursed to experience extreme pain whenever someone touches him. As the pair begin to fall passionately in love, Yeon Wol’s painful past returns to haunt them.

One day, Ji-won discovers that she has terminal cancer, and witnesses her husband and her friend Jung Soo-min (Song Ha-yoon) having an affair shortly after. Getting into a physical altercation with the pair, she is accidentally killed by her husband.

However, Ji-won opens her eyes to find herself ten years in the past, before she had married Min-hwan. Hoping to change her fate, she decides to bring the adulterous couple together instead. As Ji-won takes her future into her own hands, she starts to notice that one of her co-workers, the earnest Yoo Ji-hyeok (Na In-woo) has a secret crush on her.

Also adapted from a webtoon, upcoming historical drama Flower That Blooms at Night sees Honey Lee in the role of Jo Yeo-hwa, a widow of a noble family during the Joseon Dynasty. While she spends her days at home playing the dutiful daughter-in-law to her late husband’s family, Yeo-hwa secretly sneaks out at night to take care of those who need help.

On one of these nights, Yeo-hwa encounters Park Soo-ho (Lee Jong-won), an intelligent and handsome military officer whose life changes after their chance encounter. As the two begin to cross paths more frequently, Yeo-hwa begins to dream about a future with Soo-ho.

Meanwhile, Samuel graduated from a prestigious university and used to work for a major company, but eventually had a mental breakdown and quit to become a taxi driver.

Financially burdened and stressed out from work, their marriage has lost all excitement and become “sexless”. When their financial situation takes a turn for the worst, Woo-jin and Samuel decide to blackmail couples having extramarital affairs to earn some extra cash. At the same time, they begin to reflect on their own relationship.

Sejak: Charmed Deceit

Hospital Playlist fan favourite Jo Jung-suk leads this upcoming historical romance as Prince Lee In, who finds himself torn between love and power. Swearing loyalty to his older brother, King Lee Sun, he allows himself to be taken hostage by the Qing Dynasty. However, Lee Sun continues to despise his brother, viewing him as weak.

Though Lee In suffers emotionally from this strained relationship, he finds solace in the game of baduk. Through it, he meets and becomes fascinated with rising player Kang Hee-soo (Shin Se-kyung), who falls passionately in love with him.

Years later, Lee In ends up becoming the king, but is unhappy in his position. During this time, rising baduk player Hee-soo becomes a spy and is sent to approach the king. However, she soon realises that the new king is the same man she fell in love with in the past.

Flex x Cop

A blend of crime, comedy and romance, Flex x Cop is about a third-generation chaebol Jin Yin-soo (Ahn Bo-hyun), who becomes a police detective in the violent crimes division despite his immature personality and his family’s wealth. At work, he attempts to wipe out criminals by using his money and personal connections.

Also part of the violent crimes division is veteran detective Lee Kang-hyun (Park Ji-hyun) who is extremely hardworking and dedicated to solving crimes. Initially, she sees Yin-soo and his methods as more trouble than they are worth. However, Kang-hyun starts to see him differently after they are assigned to become partners.

Doctor Slump

Romantic-comedy Doctor Slump follows a pair of doctors and former rivals who reunite as they find themselves at a crossroads in their lives and careers. Yeo Jung-woo (Park Hyung-sik) is a top-scoring medical student who later becomes a famed plastic surgeon. However, a mysterious medical accident pushes him to rock bottom.

It is around this time he meets former classmate Nam Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye) again, who now works as an anaesthesiologist. Despite being praised throughout her life for her extreme intelligence, she comes to realise that she is not happy, as her life only revolves around work and study. Queen of Divorce

Starring Penthouse‘s Lee Ji-ah and The Uncanny Counter‘s Kang Ki-young, Queen of Divorce follows a “problem-solver” and divorce lawyer duo who punish their clients’ bad spouses. Lee plays Sara Kim, the leader of divorce settlement company Solution. Formerly the daughter-in-law of a prominent law family, she loses everything and starts the company after being betrayed by her husband.

Meanwhile, Kang plays her business partner, lawyer Dong Ki-joon. A former prosecutor with one of the highest prosecution rates in his region, he mysteriously steps down from his post. Together, the duo seek to get the best settlement for their clients seeking to divorce their partners.

The members of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK have not renewed their individual contracts with YG Entertainment.

Today (December 29), YG Entertainment announced in a statement to South Korean news outlet Xsportsnews that the four members of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK – Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa – would not be renewing their individual contracts with the agency.

“We have agreed not to proceed with additional contracts for [the members’] individual activities,” YG Entertainment said, as translated by Soompi. “We will do our utmost to support BLACKPINK’s activities, and we will cheer on the members’ individual activities with warm hearts.”

The news comes just days after Jennie launched her own label, Odd Atelier (OA). At the time, the singer revealed that she had established the company in November 2023, and described it as “a space that aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way from what is usual or expected”.

In early-December 2023, all four members of BLACKPINK “signed an exclusive contract for group activities” with YG Entertainment. It came after a months-long negotiation process, which started as early as July 2023.

As of writing, it is currently unclear whether the remaining three BLACKPINK members – Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa – will sign with existing labels or establish their own agencies.

BLACKPINK made their debut in 2016 under YG Entertainment, and have since gone on to become one of the most successful K-pop girl groups. Notably, despite not having released any new groups music in 2023, the quartet were still the second-most streamed K-pop act on Spotify for the year.

In other BLACKPINK news, Lisa recently shared a festive cover of Britney Spears‘ ‘My Only Wish (This Year)’ to celebrate Christmas. Elsewhere, K-pop group also premiered their virtual concert, ‘BLACKPINK: A VR Encore’, on December 26.

Wordle may be several years old, but the wildly popular word game has managed to keep players hooked on their phone screens since 2021.

It’s for good reason that the game’s popularity hasn’t dwindled: it’s free to play and boasts a simple concept for a fun and engaging puzzle game that doesn’t take too much time. To play, you’re given six tries to work out each day’s answer, with each try providing another hint until you solve (or guess) your way into getting the right answer.

Even if you’ve been playing daily since launch, Wordle stumps the best of us every so often. Some answers are easier than others, and some might even be words you might not have ever heard of (cough, cough… WOOER).

Hannah Waddingham has said she has “no time” for those who criticise Tom Cruise.

Waddingham has been filming scenes alongside the actor for the concluding instalment of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, which will arrive in cinemas in 2025.

The actress and TV presenter had plenty of praise for Cruise when he was brought up in her appearance on ITV series James Martin’s Saturday Morning on Christmas Day.

Having spent “five intense days” with Cruise on the USS George HW Bush fighter carrier, Waddingham told TV chef Martin: “I have to say, I have a real problem with anybody that goes at him now.”

She continued: “He is without doubt one of the loveliest and encouraging, positive and inspiring human beings I have ever met. Isn’t he gorgeous? I have no time for anyone saying anything about him.”

Despite Cruise being held in high esteem in Hollywood, he has faced controversy over his off-screen behaviour throughout the years.

In 2005, he made headlines after jumping on the sofa during an appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s chat show to declare his love for then girlfriend Katie Holmes and, that same year, labelled the practice of psychiatry “pseudo-science” in a quarrel with Matt Lauer.

He has also faced particular backlash over his longtime association with the Church of Scientology. In 2008, the actor bewildered fans in a leaked promotional video where he discussed the benefits of the controversial religion.

Meanwhile, Cruise has been sending out hundreds of $125 coconut cakes to friends, family and numerous figures in the entertainment world for Christmas in what has become an annual tradition.

The white coconut bundt cake is only made by Doan’s Bakery in Los Angeles and in past years, stars who have been lucky enough to receive one have included Tom Hanks, Kirsten Dunst and Jimmy Fallon.

It was also reported that Cruise is supposedly dating socialite Elsina Khayrova, the daughter of a prominent Russian MP and ex-wife of a diamond-trading oligarch.

Paul McCartney has revealed how William Shakespeare’s Hamlet subconsciously inspired The Beatles track ‘Let It Be’.

Macca opened up about the origins of the Fab Four’s 1970s hit, suggesting that his mother, Mary McCartney said the phrase “let it be” to him in a dream. In an episode of  McCartney: A Life in Lyrics podcast, Macca revealed how Hamlet may have inspired the track without him realising.

“In those days [at school], I had to learn speeches off by heart. So I could still do a bit of ‘to be or not to be’, or ‘O that this too too solid flesh’,” he said.

He continued: “And it had been pointed out to me recently that Hamlet, when he has been poisoned, he actually says, ‘Let it be’ – act five, scene two. He says ‘Let be’ the first time, then the second time he says, ‘Had I but time — as this fell sergeant, Death, Is strict in his arrest — oh, I could tell you. But let it be Horatio.’

“I was interested that I was exposed to those words during a time when I was studying Shakespeare so that years later the phrase appears to me in a dream with my mother saying it.”

McCartney’s mother passed away from cancer back in 1956 when he was 14. Speaking about his dream in which his mother said the phrase to him, he said: “It was great to visit with her again. I felt very blessed to have that dream. So that got me writing ‘Let It Be’.”

In other Beatles news, John Lennon‘s son, Julian Lennon recently spoke out about his relationship with his brother Sean, saying that rumours of an alleged feud between them are “such bull”.

The conversation arose as he looked back at the red carpet premiere of the Beatles’ 2021 documentary series Get Back, which he attended with Sean. Recalling the event, he explained that his younger brother initially had reservations about attending.

“He felt overwhelming pressure. And I didn’t particularly want to go. But he said he felt obligated to go,” he told the outlet. “So, because I love him so much I said, ‘Listen, I’m coming with you. We’ll face the demons together.’

“And it’s funny because there’s always been, especially in the U.K. press, ‘Lennon Sons Feuding,’ this, that. We’ve never had a fight in our life. It’s such bull.”

Olivia Rodrigo has discussed the inspiration behind some of the “emo” lyrics in her recent songs ‘Lacy’ and ‘All-American Bitch’.

Both tracks appear on the singer’s recent second album ‘Guts‘, which was released in September.

Speaking on the Kelly Clarkson Show, Rodrigo gave insight into how she conceived the lyrics for the outro of ‘Lacy’ – “And I despise my jealous eyes and how hard they fell for you / Yeah, I despise my rotten mind and how much it worships you.”

“Very emo of me, writing that,” Rodrigo told Clarkson, laughing. “I took a poetry class at USC,” she continued. “I wrote a poem called ‘Lacy’ for one of the assignments, and I really liked it. I’m like, ‘I’m gonna turn it into a song!’”

Fans have speculated that Lacy could be a number of public figures, including Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams or Sabrina Carpenter. However, Rodrigo has refrained from ever revealing the subjects of her songs, telling the Los Angeles Times earlier this month that she enjoys when fans craft “more creative answers to who Lacy is,” such as her past self.

“I just think it’s not classy to come out and say it’s about this person,” she added at the time. “I also think that would set a weird precedent where I’d have to clear the air with every song I write.”

Meanwhile, on the subject of ‘All-American Bitch’, Rodrigo explained the meaning of its opening lines “I am light as a feather, I’m as stiff as a board.”

“I always thought it was a really interesting phrase, I’ve been meaning to fit it into a song for a long time,” Rodrigo said. “[The game] seems kind of impossible. So I thought it was a good way to describe the impossible standards that are set for us as women.”

NME praised ‘GUTS’ in a five-star review, saying: “In the orbit of her urgent and riotous second album, the 20-year-old turns her own vulnerabilities into a rallying cry: here, she’s a songwriter of control, diving headfirst into the collective female experience while also pursuing adventure, desire and relief.”

The album also landed in the number two spot of NME’s Best 50 Albums of 2023.
